Lazaro Cardenas Port, February 17th, 2010- Currently the GMI company (Gen Manejos Integrales, S.A. de C.V.) is dismantling the ex war vessel "Prat", built in 1967 and desincorporated in 2007 of military service; the vessel's characteristics are: beam and length of 158 & 16,4 m in this order, its displacement capacity was over 4,000 tons.

The advantages of dismantling this ship in Lazaro Cardenas Port for the owner company, are the depth in its navigation channels, since this vessel could not arrive in any other Mexican port, the railway connection, that connects the dismantling ship terminal to the exits of container terminal for transport of final product by container, finally also because of the environmental regulation for dismantling the vessel.
